"Werner Voss"

A natural pilot and fearless combatant, in 1917 Werner Voss was the top challenger to Manfred von Richthofen's position as top German ace. Voss may have been a victim of his own courage and ambition when he was killed at age 20 in a famous dogfight against seven SE5s from No. 56 Squadron. Although his Fokker triplane was capable of easily outclimbing and evading the superior numbers of the Brits, he seemed convinced that he could down all seven of them.
