"Eddie Rickenbacker" Edward V. Rickenbacker was America's top scoring WW1 ace with 26 victories. A reknown race car driver before the war, Rickenbacker overcame the prejudices that his German-sounding Swiss name generated to become the leader of the famous "Hat In The Ring" squadron. Surviving other notable American aces such as Raoul Lufberry and Frank Luke Jr, "Captain Eddie" went on to head his own car company, own and manage the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and serve as president of Eastern Airlines. |
